She stared helplessly at the unblinking, unforgiving computer screen while she tried to ignore the unmistakable sounds of contentment that came from her living room.
"It just isn't fair", she mourned. "Just because I said I'd take care of him while Sue's gone..."
She wriggled slightly, trying to loosen her bonds.
"There ought to be someone to help me." "There is", rasped a husky male voice.
"Alex?"
"Try again", said the oh-so familiar voice.
"Vic?"
"Keep trying, sweetheart."
Quickly she ran through her mental address book. Cory? No, he'd be laughing at her dilemma. Ricky? No, he sounded different from the young cop. Not much, but...
"Anson?"
"Took you long enough, love." She twisted in her chair trying to catch a glimpse of him. "Easy does it, baby, you're just making the knots tighter."
It took all her willpower, but she finally managed to remain quiet as his nimble fingers loosened her bonds. She sighed blissfully in relief as he began massaging her sore wrists.
"Oh, that feels so good. Bless you, Anson." She tried to rise from the chair, frowning as she discovered she was still bound. "What the ...? Why am I still tied up?"
The bright green eyes twinkled mischievously at her.
"You have to finish what you promised, honey."
"But I can't", she moaned. "I..."
"I'll be right here with you, baby. Now let's see what you have so far." He smiled at her and bent his head next to hers, his warm breath tickling her ear.
"Here's what I want you to do."
Fifteen minutes later, she sighed in relief at the finished story, and smiled up at the handsome man standing beside her.
"It's your best yet, sweetheart."
"That's because I was inspired." She looked pleadingly at him. "You will let me go now, won't you?"
"Sure thing, baby."
She watched as he hit "save" and deftly untied the remaining ropes. She stared in sudden consternation as he moved toward the door.
"Anson you promised..."
He smiled at her as he gathered her into his arms. "I think it's time we were alone, don't you?"
All questions were answered by a kiss.
